  • by

Kids love Christmas, and they love being part of the festivities. Instead of feeling that you have to do everything yourself, go to your local craft store and pick up some fun activities for your children to do on their own. Let their individual creativity come through and embrace it.

Craft ideas are endless, so don’t let these hinder you from your own ideas. Just let these ideas be guiding stone to your own magical Christmas moment with your kids. When kids are involved, they take more pride and activity in the feeling of Christmas.

Make Your Own Ornaments

There are so many different ornaments that your child can create. In fact, you can make this year a Christmas where all the ornaments will be homemade. That will create a Christmas tree that your children will be so happy with – it may not look organized, but at least the children will be happy!

Depending on the age of your child, there are plain glass bulbs that you can purchase, some craft glue, velvet sheets, glitter, and different Christmas shaped pre-cut decorative items. Your children can cut out their own Christmas decorations or use the pre-cut shapes and glue them on the ornament.

If you have older children, they can get more creative with a glue gun and create 3D ornaments, which are really popular now. This is where the decorations do not lay flat, but are elevated from the ornament to create that 3D appearance.

Make Your Own Cards

Nowadays, people are even in a rush to get through Christmas, and they send out picture cards instead of even a small note to send love and blessings during the Christmas season. Be different this year. Buy some cardstock paper that will work with your printer at home. Instead of putting a picture of your family on the card, have your kids pick Christmas pictures to decorate the card.

Next, write a small Christmas message in each card and have your children sign the card. You will be surprised how much more special a little handmade card is then a standard card you just shoved in an envelope. You can also have your children cut out Christmas themes and paste on the outside of the card so each one is different.

Christmas Gift Bags

Buy a stack of plain white or brown paper bags in different sizes. You can usually find these at a local packaging store. Buy some decorative Christmas pre-cuts outs, ribbon, or velvet sheets so your children can create their own decorations.

Glue these decorative pieces on the paper bag, allow to dry, and you can use for delivering cookies or even wrapping presents. This is a great way to add creativity to your Christmas gift giving, and a nice way to include your children in the process of the patience, love, and care that goes into giving to others.
